Portugal Food Stories Day 14 – Wine and Oysters in Setubal

Portugal Food Stories – Portuguese Wine – A World to Travel

The last day of our Portugal Food Stories Tour involved two wine cellars, way too many oysters and… some food poisoning too! But don’t get discouraged, it only happened to me! I must have a delicate stomach.

This is how our #portugalfoodstories day starts at #HerdadeDaComporta 🙂

The day was going very smooth. Once again, a full day program with the chance of tasting both Herdade da Comporta and Bacalhoa wines. The first one located in the middle of a rice plantation and vineyards; and the second one, belonging to Aliança, the same group than the other wine cellar we had already visited and with three different art collections itself: Africa, Art Deco and Portuguese tiles. Sweet!

In case you fancied some #Bacalhoa wine 🙂 #portugalfoodstories

Later on the day we reached Setubal. Celia, a well travelled Portuguese woman with a passion for oysters who started her own company some years back, showed us her oyster farm around. And so we witnessed how these delicacies are produced in what was another walk at sunset in a stunning location. No shortage of beautiful light in Portugal!

Ever wondered where #oysters grow up? #portugalfoodstories

Once the sun set, we headed back to the city centre in order to learn how to cook them. And have them for dinner too. Oysters and white wine, small variations here and there and you can call it a dinner. Thing is that I had way more oysters than I should and didn’t pay attention to the effect just one have had on me some years back.

The result? Food poisoned for the second time in my life thanks to these little animals. Never again.

Note to self. Next time in Setubal, book Hotel del Sado. Best views in town.

See you soon #Setubal #portugalfoodstories
