Chinese New Year App

We absolutely love New Year’s parties as you might have noticed already. This year we embarked on a Scottish adventure and enjoyed one of the best to date. Anyway, today we would like to tell you about one that is currently going on and has been for the last two weeks already: The Chinese New Year. Also known as Spring Festival, Chinese New Year celebrations  run from Chinese New Year’s Eve, the last day of the last month of the Chinese calendar, to the Lantern Festival on the 15th day of the first month. And they are celebrated all over the world! What means that, no matter where you find yourself, there should be a Chinese New Year festival happening near you these days. Red lanterns topping Chinatowns streets and positive messages all over the place are something worth to experience indeed!

As Europeans, when we first heard about this tradition, we had no idea that every person is represented by a different animal in the Chinese culture. And that this fact has a concrete meaning. Thing is that the folks over at ThomasCook have managed to create an awesome app that tells you which animal you are after entering your date of birth. Then, depending on what animal and personality type represents you, this application tells you which holiday destination would be perfect for you. Isn’t that great?

Check the following video for a quick intro to this Chinese New Year App:

And now it’s time to put that into practice. I’ve checked which animal represents me already but will keep it as a secret for now. So, which one are you?
